Community Service
Community service is an integral part of education at Simba International School. Through meaningful service experiences, students develop empathy, social responsibility, and leadership skills while making a positive impact in our local and global communities.
Service Learning Approach
Our service learning program integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities. The program follows a structured approach:
- Investigation: Students identify and analyze community needs
- Preparation: Students plan service activities that address identified needs
- Action: Students implement their service plans
- Reflection: Students reflect on their experiences and learning
- Demonstration: Students showcase their service learning experiences and outcomes
Service Requirements
While we encourage all students to participate in service activities, we have specific requirements for different age groups:
- Primary School (Years 1-6): Class-based service projects integrated into the curriculum
- Lower Secondary (Years 7-9): Minimum 15 hours of service annually, with at least 10 hours in direct service
- Upper Secondary (Years 10-11): Minimum 20 hours of service annually, with at least 15 hours in direct service
- Sixth Form (Years 12-13): Minimum 25 hours of service annually, with at least 20 hours in direct service
Students document their service hours and reflections in their Service Learning Portfolio, which becomes part of their school record.
